PONDA: In a major midnight fire that broke out at Kaswada, Talavlim, a house belonging to Gopal Naik was gutted causing loss of property worth lakhs of rupees.
However, the cause of fire is not known.
The Ponda Fire personnel rushed to site with the fire tender but due to narrow passage the fire tender could not reach the house and subsequently an extended pipe was used to douse the fire.
As the fire could not be controlled, another fire tender was called in to douse the fire.
The fire broke out when none of the family members were in the house and the incident came to light only when a neighbour heard a loud noise, who later telephoned the owner.
The incident took place near Wadi Talavlim in a residential area and the efforts of fire station personnel ensured that the fire did not spread.
