PERNEM: First floor of a house owned by one Chandrakant Narayan Kothavle caught fire at Chopdem, Pernem, on Sunday.
According to Pernem fire station, the incident took place at around 10.45 am when the inverter kept on the first floor of the house caught fire. The first floor consists of three rooms, which the owner was using as godown to store spare parts of two wheelers, were gutted in fire. It took almost two hours for fire fighters to doze off the fire.
Since the Pernem Fire Station has one water fire tendering vehicle, another fire tendering vehicle was called from Mapusa Fire Station. The owner claimed a loss of Rs 10 lakh. However, the fire force managed to save goods worth Rs 20 lakh.
