House recognises achievements & awards, lauds ISRO for Chandrayaan-3 launch

PORVORIM: The Goa Assembly on Tuesday applauded Vinayak Khedekar, a noted folklorist, author, scriptwriter, and former journalist, for receiving the Padma Shri Award, along with the Gomant Vibhushan Award bestowed by the Goa government. The House also extended congratulations to Pandit Shri Prabhakar Karekar, a music maestro, for being honoured with the Gomant Vibhushan Award.

The House congratulated ISRO for successfully launching India’s third lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3, aboard the GSLV Mark 3 heavy lift launch vehicle from Sriharikota. Other individuals recognized included Geetanjali Nagvekar for winning a gold medal at the Special Olympics in Berlin, Shruti Mascarenhas for receiving the National Fellowship from the Department of Art and Culture, Sahil Satish Naik for his achievement as a top scorer from Goa State in the JEE Main paper (2A) with a 99.7 percentile, and Katya Coelho, India’s sailing queen, for winning gold at the Sail India Nationals Asian Games Selection Trials held in Mumbai.

Cdr Abhilash Tomy was also congratulated for becoming the First Asian to grace the podium of the Golden Globe Solo World Sailing Race, the toughest maritime race covering 26,000 nautical miles at sea. Dr. Tanvi Kamat Bambolkar and Tukaram Shet were recognized for winning the Sahitya Akademi’s Bal Sahitya Puraskar and Yuva Puraskar, 2023, respectively.

The Assembly also congratulated PM Narendra Modi for being honoured with France’s highest civilian award, the ‘Legion of Honour’, as well as Egypt’s highest civilian award, the ‘Order of the Nile’. The House also congratulated former MLA Sadanand Shet Tanavade for his unopposed election to the Upper House.
