House, shop gutted in fire at Mandrem

PERNEM: A house and shop owned by one Anjali Mandrekar gutted in fire on early Tuesday morning damaging property worth Rs 10 lakh, at Mandrem.

According to the sources from Pernem Fire Station, the control room received a call at 4.15 am informing about the incident. Immediately, a team of fire personnel was dispatched to the spot. 

Since, the house and shop were at blaze, reinforcement was sought from the Mapusa Fire Station. It took more than two hours for the fire team to put off the fire completely. 

In the fire, two deep freezers, two refrigerators, computer, printer, gift and stationery items, racks, crockery, interior items etc were gutted. Fire teams managed to save property worth Rs 10 lakh. 

The fire team suspects the cause of fire to be due to a short circuit.

The team was headed by Pernem Fire Station Incharge Dilip Gawas, Assistant Officer Jairam Malik, driver Pramod Gawandi, fire fighters Vikas Chauhan, Lakshdeep Harmalkar and Rajesh Parab.
