NEW DELHI, MAY 12
China’s Huawei Technologies has got a contract worth more than $400 million from nascent Indian mobile operator Unitech Wireless, an India-based spokesman for the Chinese firm said.
The contract to supply equipment for Unitech Wireless’ yet-to-be started mobile operations will be executed over a five-year period, the spokesman said.
A newspaper reported on Monday Unitech Wireless, in which Norway’s Telenor is taking about 67 per cent stake, had awarded equipment contracts worth $200 million each to Alcatel-Lucent and Huawei.
