Hubballi achieves highest loading in March: SWR

VASCO: Hubballi
division has achieved a loading of 3.45 million tonnes in the month of March
2021 which is the highest monthly loading in the last 4 years. It has loaded
2286 wagons on March 31, 2021 which is the highest ever single day loading over
Hubballi division.

In its press
statement SWR has said, “With the above loading performance, Hubballi division
has achieved freight loading of 29.949 million tonnes during the Financial Year
2020-21, which is 9.3 per cent greater than last year’s loading of 27.3 million
tonnes. Freight loading of Financial Year 2021 has surpassed the target of 29.4
million tonnes by 1.8 per cent.”

Freight revenue
of Hubballi division in Financial Year 2021 is approximately Rs 2680 crore
which is 2.3 per cent higher than previous year Freight revenue of Rs 2618
crore. The Division continues to register impressive figures in freight loading
suggesting steady economic recovery, the release adds.

Furthermore,
marketing initiatives of Hubballi division and continuous coordination with
customers have facilitated improvements in increasing the loading in the
existing commodity-basket. The Division has successfully captured new streams
of traffic like Met Coke, Bauxite, Pet Coke and Fly Ash. For the first time, in
the month of February, 1326 Tonnes of rice were loaded from Gangavathi to Azara
near Guwahati making Gangavathi a new loading station on Railway map. Rice is
also a new freight traffic captured by Hubballi Division during the Financial
Year 2020-21. The other new traffic loaded from Hubballi Division includes
bajra from Vijayapura, bauxite from Kalem and Mormugao Harbour, pig iron from
JSW Steel.
