Acting on the report of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in the case relating to the suicide of newly wedded Vibha Gautam Parulekar from New Vaddem, Vasco Police on Saturday arrested deceased’s husband for alleged abetment of suicide.
The SDM report stated that prima-facie evidence indicates that the deceased ended her life because of abetment.
It may be recalled that a two-month-old love marriage ended in tragedy when Vibha (29) from Porvorim committed suicide by jumping in the sea behind Goa Shipyard Limited, Vasco, on July 16.
Vibha had tied the knot with her longtime friend Gautam just two months before her suicide. She committed suicide when she had come to her parents’ house at New Vaddem, Vasco.
Police informed that due to some dispute among the newly wedded couple, Vibha had come to her parent’s residence and she left her residence on July 15, and next day her body was found in the sea behind GSL.
Police further informed that the deceased and her husband were working together at Verna Industrial Estate.
However, it is learnt from police that deceased’s husband had sent an SMS to her, which suggest that something was wrong among the couple that could have led her to commit suicide.
The SDM report has also questioned the attitude of Vibha’s mother.
Vasco Police arrested Gautam Parulekar under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) and took him under four days police custody for interrogation.
