Arambol: The damaged concrete blocks of a culvert at the Bhom junction in Paliem has created a crater in the middle of the road and poses threat to motorists here.
“The road has caved in and a huge pothole poses danger to motorists, especially students and teachers who routinely use this route,” said social worker Pramesh Mayekar.
Mayekar hit out at the PWD for turning a blind eye to the danger the pothole poses to motorists and wondered whether the department was waiting for a tragedy to happen to inorder to repair it.
There is a school, higher secondary school and a college in the vicinity and about 2,000 students use this route everyday.
“There is a need to erect speed bumps before the junction. The speed breakers also need to be put up near the college as students are often seen driving in a rash and negligent manner,” said a local.
