MARGAO: Huge quantities of coal were found piled at the cross roads near Maruthi Temple in Davorlim this morning making the road very hazardous for motorists specially two-wheeler riders to drive along. Apparently this is a regular occurrence with no action being taken against the culprits.
Sudesh Bhise, who lives nearby, said that large number of trucks transport coal only under the cover of darkness. “They start in the night and continue till early morning,” he said and lamented that none of the authorities have taken any action as yet.
Trucks transporting coal are supposed to be well covered and there should be no spillage and yet at this junction one regularly finds coal by the roadside, he pointed out.
Ironically nobody clears the fallen coal which is then disbursed all over the area by vehicle plying there.
According to Bhise, the present spillage must have occurred last night and wondered whether CCTV cameras could not be used to identify and nab the culprits.
