PERNEM/MANDREM: Assembly elections finally concluded peacefully on Monday with voting percentage of 85.22 per cent in Pernem Constituency and Mandrem Constituency recording 87.18 per cent.
For the first few hours after polling exercise opened, booths received normal response. Many enthusiastic first time voters casted their vote during this hours while many senior citizens and male voters moved out later part of the day.
The second half of the polling day witnessed crowd at the booths where most of the female voters moved out to cast their vote.
Youth responded positively in Pernem and Mandrem Constituencies since it was their first Assembly elections. Along with youth, women and senior citizens enthusiastically participated to cast their votes.
Strict COVID-19 norms were executed at all polling stations in Pernem and Mandrem with checking of body temperature with thermal guns, providing hand gloves, maintaining social distancing and using of face masks.
While some booths witnessed crowd during the second half, few booths witnessed movement of voters throughout the day.
No law and order situation was witnessed in Mandrem and Pernem.
Since there were many options to choose from, it was a difficult task for the voters to vote for a particular party or candidate resulting in haphazard voting.
Meanwhile, SP North Shobit Saxena also had his election visit in Pernem taluka to keep a check on law and order situation.
