RAIA: The feast of Our Lady of Snows, Raia, also known as Kon’sachem fest, was celebrated on Sunday.
Hundreds of devotees from different parts of Goa and other places attended the feast.
Fr Allan Tavares, Manager of Pilar college was the main celebrant for the high Mass. In his homily Fr Allan stressed on Our Lady of Snows and said that she is the mother of us all, and requested the faithful to come more and more closer to Lord Jesus to take the blessings, and complimented the Raia villagers for having got the opportunity of being one of the first villages in Goa wherein the blessing and cutting of the first corn takes place at Saibinichi Kongi Raia.
“We have to grow paddy and vegetables in our fields with unity love, togetherness and a community, which can be self reliant in growing and eat the fruits of hard earned labour from our own hands. Our youth can set an example by growing the fields as today’s youths and others are mostly on social media and we should not be lazy and should not feel shy in doing agricultural activities,” he said.
Later, Assistant Parish Priest Fr Pedro Costa, after the prayers, blessed the first corn for distribution. He thanked the Lord for the bountiful harvest.
