MARGAO: A man lost his life while his wife was seriously injured as the scooter on which they were proceeding to Margao collided against an oncoming Kadamba Transport Corporation bus on the Karmalghat slope near Gulem.
Canacona PI Harish Raut Dessai said Ratnakar Velip, 46, died while his 42-year-old wife Ratiya is admitted to the South Goa District Hospital.
Ratnakar who is a resident of Gaondongrim died at the same hospital where his wife is currently undergoing treatment.
Police said that the woman suffered injuries as she fell on the road while the husband despite wearing a helmet died as he came under the wheels of the bus.
The injured couple was first taken to the Balli Health Centre by 108 ambulance and from there they were referred to the SGDH, Margao.
Even as police visited the site and conducted a panchanama, no offence is registered as yet as investigations are on. However, the damaged scooter is kept at the Canacona police station for inspection by RTO.
