CANACONA: Property worth over Rs 1 lakh was destroyed when a hut at Colomb in Canacona caught fire on Tuesday night. However, timely action by the duty crew of fire and emergencies office saved a property of worth Rs 5 lakh.
Fire office at Canacona said that on receiving a fire call that a hut at Colomb has caught fire, a fire tender was dispatched immediately to the site of fire. Duty crew lead by sub-officer M G S Lolienkar assisted by fire fighters Omresh Mokhardakar, Vasant Velip, Goutham Velip, Ganesh Naik and driver operator Ashok Gaonkar tackled the raging fire and stopped it from engulfing the neighbouring houses.
