Hyderabad native arrested for theft of mobiles, laptops

MAPUSA: In major breakthrough into theft cases reported in Calangute area, police arrested one Amjad Ali Shaikh, a native of Hyderabad, and recovered from him 15 expensive mobile phones and three laptops, all worth Rs Rs 9 lakh, on Wednesday.

MAPUSA: In major breakthrough into theft cases reported in Calangute area, police arrested one Amjad Ali Shaikh, a native of Hyderabad, and recovered from him 15 expensive mobile phones and three laptops, all worth Rs Rs 9 lakh, on Wednesday.
Following a complaint by a tourist from Bangalore that his iPhone and Samsung mobile were stolen from his hotel room, police obtained call details and tracked the phone to Vagator. On questioning, the person, who had the phone, revealed that it was sold to him by the accused person. Later, the police traced the accused at Calangute and arrested him with a bag containing eight mobile phones and a laptop.
On interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had sold some mobile phones and laptops at a shop ‘Big Mobiles’ at Calangute market. Police immediately searched the shop and recovered two mobile phones and two laptops from the shop. Shop owner Sohail Ahmed also has been arrested for receiving stolen property under Section 411 of IPC. 
As the news of the arrest of Shaikh spread, one more complaint was received about a theft of mobile and laptop. The complainant identified his mobile and laptop from the seized property. 
Calangute police are in the process of contacting the owners of the recovered mobiles and laptops.
The investigating team headed PI Jivba Dalvi, included PSI Sitaram Malik, PSI Rushikesh Patil, Head Constable Satish Sawant and Constable Vijay Pirankar.
