PANJIM: Goa Police has allayed apprehensions that personnel on duty at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) are provided a ‘snack’ instead of a proper meal justifying police are trained to live in harsh conditions.
SP (North) Chandan Chaudhary said, “We are taking a lot of effort to ensure that clean and hygienic food is provided to the staff on duty. In fact credit should be given to Goa Police for ensuring this aspect considering the fact that the nature of police force is to perform duties in harsh conditions. We are trained for it. Imagine the plight of police personnel roughing it out in the jungles of Naxal affected areas or border areas where they survive on meagre supplies,” she said reacting to reports that personnel deployed on IFFI duty are unhappy with light meal provided during working hours.
Unlike last few years when biryani or rice and pao-bhaji was served, this year cops are served food packets containing one boiled egg, banana, a piece of cake, vegetable puff and two maska buns. In the past few years there had been complaints of unhygienic and stale food provided to the policemen.
