MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao has said that 6 out of 7 panchayats of Benaulim Constituency are with him.
Addressing the media on Tuesday evening, Churchill claimed that Colva, Seraulim, Benaulim, Varca, Orlim and Cavellossim are with him and his panels have winning numbers.
Churchill said that in Carmona Panchayat only two were elected but they would join him too. Churchill said he has 5 out of 9 in Varca, 5 out of 7 in Orlim and Cavellosim all of the panel got elected. Churchill also announced that three of the women who have got elected in Benaulim Panchayat will serve as sarpanch or equal number of years and has also announced the sitting Colva Sarpanch Menino Fernandes will be the Sarpanch of Colva now.
On his comparative performance Churchill said, “My support and affiliated panchayats have tripled. I had only one panch in Cavellosim, Varca and no panches in Seraulim and Carmona. Now, I have majority in most of these panchayats.”
Churchill said that it is his contact with the people and the desire to work for the people that helped him win. Churchill said that no development of beaches has happened in the past many years and now he would take it up with the Govt.
“The funds which are allocated for the works need to be brought in and I will do that,” said Churchill. “A Health Centre, 11-bed hospital, Community Hall, Ambulance and other basic amenities will be added to the constituency,” he said.
Churchill has also planned to meet the chief minister with all the elected panches from his constituency.
