MARGAO: Rakhi Naik of Nationalist Congress Party has clarified that she is very much in the race for Sanguem elections and has appealed to her supporters not to believe reports that she is not in the running.
NCP plans to have a meeting of women on Sanguem on November 13, which will be attended by Supriya Sule, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar’s daughter.
Addressing a press conference in Margao, Rakhi said, “After Yuri Alemao’s defeat, I have worked in Sanguem for the last four and a half years. Therefore, the report about me withdrawing my candidature from Sanguem seat is a hoax spread by Prasad Gaonkar. In fact, Gaonkar is not even a member of NCP.”
“I don’t need a certificate of good work from Prasad Gaonkar. I have worked in Sanguem for the NCP and I have full faith in the party high command,” Rakhi said.
“After putting in lot of work for the NCP, I was mentally exhausted. Therefore, I wanted to resign from the party. But, Supriya Sule held me back,” she said.
