PANJIM: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar’s fondness for Goa has not abated even 21 months after his elevation to the Union cabinet. This time it is not his frequent visits to Goa that bring this to the fore, but the lighthearted remarks or comments, which are misinterpreted by the nation al media but taken sportingly in Goa.
“The Delhi media does not understand humour and creates confusion out of it. I feel good to be here (Goa). When I am in Goa I don’t mind cracking a joke but I am little afraid in Delhi. Even if I joke, then it is misinterpreted and confusion is created,” he said on Saturday.
Stating that in Goa, ‘we joke casually’, the former Goa CM recalled that while inaugurating the girl’s hostel of GEC a couple of years ago, he had wittingly stated that after 30-40 years his dream of going to a girl’s hostel was accomplished. “This is a dream of each IIT student but now the situation has changed,” he said.
I can joke in Goa, not Delhi, says Parrikar
