I-Day functions across the State

PANJIM: Goa will celebrate India’s Independence Day on August 15 with the main state level function to be held in front of the Old Secretariat Panjim at 9.15 am.

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar will unfurl the national tri-colour, inspect the guard of honour, address the people  and present awards to those who have contributed in various fields.
In Mapusa, Dy CM Francis D’Souza will unfurl the flag at 9.15 am at the Deputy Collector’s Office. The flag hoisting ceremony at Margao would be performed by Avertano Furtado, Minister for Labour at 9.15 am in front of the Collectorate building. PWD Minister, Sudin Dhavalikar, will unfurl the flag at 9.15 am at Kranti Maidan, Ponda. 
Power Minister Milind Naik will hoist the flag at Vasco at 9.15 am at Tilak Maidan. 
At Bicholim, Assembly Speaker Anant Shet will unfurl the flag at 9.15 am at taluka headquarters and at Canacona; Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar will hoist the flag at 9.15 am at taluka headquarters.
The Director of Sports & Youth Affairs will organize prabhat pheries, cycle races and marathon races for children and citizens. 
After the main function, the Chief Minister will proceed to Patradevi where he will lay wreath along with other dignitaries at the Martyrs’ Memorial at 11.30 am.
