I never let party down: Sidharth

With Manohar Parrikar becoming the Defence Minister of the country, and his subsequent election as MP, the Panjim seat that he had literally made his own, is now up for grabs by all and sundry. Herald’s SHWETA KAMAT talks to BJP front runner for the Panjim seat - Sidharth Kuncalienker

HERALD: Panjim MLA Manohar Parrikar has made it clear that he will select a candidate who would be easily accepted by the people. Do you think that you will be accepted by the people of Panjim?
Sidharth: So far, I am one of the contenders, but the party will take a call. I have been in public life since 2005, associated with Manohar bhai. Now it is for the people to accept the candidate. Even if they don’t, I will work for the people, as I have been doing now.
HERALD: Do you think that you are the right candidate for the BJP?
Sidharth: I have not staked any claim for the ticket. My name is one among those probable candidates. I feel that the party can consider me, looking at my work for the party. I have done my best in every responsibility that was allocated to me.  I have never let the party down.
HERALD: Manohar Parrikar has always been face of BJP. Do you think it was Parrikar or BJP for Panjimites?
Sidharth: Yes, Parrikar has always been the face of BJP. But along with him there is very strong organizational support of over 700-800 BJP workers. It is these people who made Parrikar. Parrikar himself is thankful to his people and he proudly says that it is the people of Panjim and his supporters who made him so strong.
