PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday said that Goa Forward Party (GFP) president and MLA Vijai Sardesai is frustrated after being dropped from the Cabinet and was making baseless statements.
When asked for his reaction to Sardesai slamming the Goa government for COVID-19 management following high mortality rate and for lack of oxygen supply in the GMC, Sawant said, “Vijai Sardesai has no work. He is now unemployed. He is venting his anger after dropping from the Cabinet. I showed him true Goemkarpann,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that it was easy to make allegations without considering the real facts. He pointed out that if the borders were sealed it would have affected the entry of vehicles transporting medicines, oxygen cylinders and essential items from other States.
“I am running the government and I know the consequences what would have happened if we had stopped the entry of people in Goa. How can we discriminate people from Goa and outside Goa?” Sawant asked adding that he was getting continuous calls from Goans stranded in other parts of the country due to delay in getting COVID negative certificate.
Sawant said that large number of people from neighbouring States working in pharmaceutical companies in Goa travel everyday and they would be affected if they are asked to possess a COVID negative certificate issued within 72 hours. If they are asked to produce certificate to enter the State everyday the pharma industry will collapse, he added.
