Addressing the media, Tousif said though he had received many threats, there was no investigation worth the name.
“There was no arrest and filing of criminal charges. This showed the government was hand in gloves with these forces. Such consistent attacks by organised groups, is also an attack on theatre and creativity. The fact that I took birth in a Muslim family has been used to create more communal divisions,” he said.
He said he had expected the government and the police to come heavily on such “social terror” elements so that they should not have the pride and courage to come out so publicly sending fear amongst peace loving Goans.
“At the moment, the government is silent, thus indicating consent to the entry of such elements in Goa and under the garb of freedom of movement in the country”, Tousif added.
Replying to a question, he said the government has not come clear on the idea of Hindu rashtra floated by its own minister.
“The government had to withdraw Damu Naik’s undertaking to be given by tiatrists who wanted to perform at Ravindra Bhavan. Now, government has failed to reassure tiatrists of protection and it is for the first time that we have to perform under police protection,” he added.
