‘I will carry forward my father’s legacy’

MAPUSA: Joshua D’Souza, son of Goa’s former deputy chief minister late Francis D’Souza on Saturday said he was confident of getting the BJP ticket for the by-poll and would work tirelessly to complete all the works of his father.
“I am very happy on being given the ticket officially on Saturday evening. I will carry forward my father’s legacy. I have been with the party and I have been working for the constituency along with my father. I will swing into action tomorrow by meeting the karyakartas and accordingly plan my campaign. I have barely a couple of weeks before the
by-polls and have to make the most of it. The bus stand, Ravindra Bhavan and a parking structure to decongest the town will be my top priority,” he said.
A number of BJP leaders and those from the ruling party had been rooting for Joshua following the demise of his father. Francis was the first minority leader to join the BJP in 1990s and he remained faithful to the party till his death.
It was quite certain that Joshua would be given the ticket as the traditional vote bank of his father would move with him and that he would receive sympathy votes.
