Arambol: Iice-cream vendors, migrant women and masseuses doing brisk business on the beach and locals allege that tourist police prefer to turn and nelson’s eye to the illegalities and allow them to carry on their trade freely.
Villagers say that migrant women often pester foreign tourists to buy their wares on the beach.
“Some masseuses approach visitors straightaway and start massaging them without their consent. There have been incidents of robberies under the pretext of massaging,” said locals.
Local business owners allege that their complaints regarding the menace by vendors have fallen on dear ears.
Ice-cream vendors carry out their business by keeping the carts close to the shoreline and there are at least 7 such carts which are seen on Arambol beach. Locals have accused cops for conspired with the vendors to run a ‘parallel economy’.
Meanwhile, locals have also expressed anger over local traders for registering carts in their own names and then lending them to labourers.
