MARGAO: Immaculate Conception Sports Club (ICSC),Paroda prevailed over Navelim Sporting Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to march into the semi-finals of all-Goa 41st Chandor Seamen Cup inter-village football tournament organized by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Saturday.
ICSC took over control and broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when striker Djon Fernandes slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Navelim Sporting Club tried their best to come back into the game but failed to get past the rival alert defence.
Post resumption, Navelim Sporting Club showed urgency and took the fight to the rival camp with their forwards and midfielders working in tandem to put the rival defence under tremendous pressure. Soon, Alvito Colaco levelled the scores.
In the penalty shoot-out, Kanchan Khiiro, Soccoro Colaco, Godfrey Rodrigues and Djon Fernandes were on target for Immaculate Conception Sports Club while Joseph Fernandes, Jesan Pereira, and Bitu Singh converted for Navelim Sporting Club.
