IDC Board members met on Friday in a meet chaired by Ganesh Gaonkar, and approved the amendment to the Goa Industrial Development Act 1965. The same will now be placed before the government for approval.
As per the amendment – inserted new section 37B – a four member committee headed by the IDC managing director will be constituted to decide and dispose of all applications for land development, permissions, granting of NOC, construction of building under all local or special laws including Goa, Daman and Diu Town and Country Planning Act, 1974, in industrial estates and areas set up by IDC.
The other members of the committee will include under secretary (Revenue), one IDC director with knowledge of engineering, architecture or industry and a Deputy Town Planner.
Speaking to Herald, Gaonkar said the amendment was necessary so as to decide on cases with building construction permissions and other infrastructural works. “This is done with the prime objective of promoting industrial growth in the State and proper planning and development of the industrial estate,” he explained.
In another decision, IDC has allotted 57,574sq mtrs of land to Goa Industries Environment Management Association (GIEMA) for setting up Common Hazardous Waste Treatment Storage Facility (CHWTSDF) at Pissurlem Industrial Estate.
Also permission has been granted for setting up a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Cuncolim IE, considering the number of industrial units related to fish curing which are discharging their effluents within their premises or in drains outside causing unrest in the vicinity.
