QUEPEM: Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on Thursday flagged off Information Education and Communication (IEC) van, which will educate and create awareness among the farmers on Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
This van will visit all village panchayats across the State over the next seven days as this week is being celebrated as Fasal Bima Yojana Week Pan India by the Department of Agriculture. Similar educative vehicles were flagged off across India.
Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Agriculture Minister for State Purushottam Rupala and Kailash Choudhari addressed the function online.
Speaking on the occasion, Dy CM Kavlekar enlightened people about the various schemes provided by the State and Central governments and through this special drive it will create awareness and educate farmers about the available schemes and insurance under Fasal Bima Yojana and also how the government is committed to the farmers cause.
Director of Directorate of Agriculture Nevil Alphonso said this scheme was started in 2016 to give benefit to those farmers, who face heavy losses during the natural calamities. If the farmers insure their fields they will get insurance under this scheme.
