VASCO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Monday assured that if both BJP candidates are elected from the State, they would be in a better position to help locals secure jobs in the central government agencies located in Mormugao taluka.
Parrikar was speaking at BJP’s first public meeting in front of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) building to garner support to their South Goa Lok Sabha candidate Narendra Sawaikar.
“Mormugao taluka is home to many central government agencies and the two BJP candidates will help the locals to get jobs in these central government agencies,” assured Parrikar, while urging people to elect Sawaikar with a lead of at least 14,000 votes.
Parrikar alleged that the Congress government has looted the government coffers and assured that if both their candidates from Goa are elected, then he will plug the holes of corruption and pass the benefit to the people of Goa.
“If both BJP candidates get elected from Goa, it will help us pursue special status for Goa,” he said.
While commenting on illegal houses and the incomplete four-lane highway, Parrikar stated that all the illegal houses will be legalised by December 2014 and within two years, the remaining stretch of the four-lane highway will be completed.
Sawaikar assured that if elected he will abolish the contract system and will provide jobs for the locals in Central government agencies. “There is a need to change the future of the country and if the country has to be developed and progressed then there is a need to elect the Modi government at the Centre,” he added.
While commenting on Dabolim airport, Sawaikar said some people are simply raking up the issue. “The Dabolim airport was upgraded during the tenure of the BJP government and it should be retained. If elected, I will work for further expansion of the Dabolim airport,” he said.
Power Minister Milind Naik said Carlos Almeida, Alina Saldanha and he have been working in coordination with each other for the victory of Sawaikar.
Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida urged Parrikar to help him to complete the Vasco fish market, develop the Vaddem Lake and upgrade KTC bus stand. Other BJP office bearers also spoke during the meeting.
