PANJIM: The upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is all set to be eco-friendly at least in terms of the use of drinking glasses and bottles. In a long list of new initiatives this year, the State government has decided to do away with plastic bottles.
“There will be use of glass bottles instead of plastic,” said an official.
Likewise, a helpline number with a dedicated call centre has been proposed in addition to starting a ticketless entry system through RFID enabled delegate cards.
In another move to encourage tourism in the State, the government has roped-in the ‘Hop On,Hop Off’ bus service and has also increased the number of 3-wheelers for ferrying delegates, visitors, etc.
Three extra screens and one extra open air theatre, plans to reduce/eliminate rush queues and a ‘Mini Movie Mania Short Film Making Competition are the other new initiatives at the nine-day long event starting on November 20.
Among other activities, which are annually set up at the IFFI venues, include programs at the Children’s Village, cultural programmes in the Art Park, food & handicraft stalls on the Festival Mile, exhibitions on Film and Entertainment State Pavilion for promotion of films, film screenings and cultural programmes in remote talukas of Goa, etc.
Six films from Goa- ‘A Rainy Day’, ‘Amori’, ‘Digant’,
‘Juze’, ‘K Sera Sera’ and ‘Paltadacho Munnis’ will also be showcased. The Goan Film Section – Premier & Non-Premier – consists of Anant Vijay (Convener) – National award winning film critic and Cultural editor of Dainik Jagran, Kamakhya Narayan Singh (Member) – Movie Director and Director of Travel XP India channel and Ashok Phaldessai (Member) – TV actor from Marathi Industry as jury members.
The ‘Short Film Competition’ – that aims at reaching out to maximum number of aspiring film makers and providing them a platform on an international level to participate and showcase their films – will have around minimum 350 Goan filmmakers.
