MARGAO: The International Human Rights Association (IHRA) celebrated its 6th anniversary by felicitating two eminent doctors from Goa at a badly organized programme held at Ravindra Bhavan Margao. The two doctors were felicitated by Retired Justice of Bombay High Court Avinash P Lavande.
The two eminent doctors felicitated were Senior consultant and general surgeon Dr V V Kamat and Dr Manjunath Dessai who after studying at Goa Medical College has now started the Cardiology Department at the institute.
In the first place the programme started 45 minutes beyond the scheduled time and once started, one hour 15 minutes were wasted in welcome song, welcome dance, introduction of the guests and presenting them bouquets, etc and the first felicitation took place at 6:30 pm at a programme that was scheduled to start at 4:30 pm.
For an organization dealing with Human Rights, the organizers did not seem to be bothered about wasting people’s time including that of the small children who performed the dance. Besides, though world over there is a clamour to reduce the use of plastic, the bouquets and even the fruit baskets that were given to guests were wrapped in plastic.
