PANJIM, APRIL 16
When Atul Nigam finished his IIT in 1988 from Kanpur at the age of 23 he wanted to do something different. He ventured into what no man would ever dare to do at that time. He took up coaching below average students for the toughest exam in the world, IIT-JEE, and succeeded in sending eight out of 10 students to IITs.
Nigam managed to achieve this feat by giving every student his personal touch. In a coaching career over the years he has created over 1,000 IITians and using his vast teaching experience created the unique Aasanka platform that offers preparatory courses for students appearing for Class X and XII Board exams as well as competitive exams such as CET, AIEEE and IIT-JEE.
Explaining what Aasanka was all about at a press conference in the city on Friday, Nigam said, “This Internet-based new technology using DynaMind software understands student’s footprint, strengths and weaknesses. It is able to provide assignments based on the students weaknesses and provide instant feedback so that they are aware of their strengths.”
Nigam observed, “The lectures through this interactive software are available 24 x 7 and the same can be accessed on the computer anywhere and any time. The system is thus able to eliminate all the limitations of the current coaching culture. The subjects offered are Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.”
Goa is the first place from where Aasanka is opening its first centre in Ponda at SRS Computers and then branching out to other parts of the country like Mumbai, Lucknow, Chattisgarh, Punjab, Bihar, UP, Orissa and MP.
Nigam informed the Union Human Resources and Development Ministry has entrusted Aasanka Learning Solutions Pvt Ltd the task of training 20 Std XII girls of the SC/ST community from across the country using the Aasanka system. “This is a pilot project in partnership with Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya based in Pondicherry. The project started in September 2009 and will end in April 2011 and we will see that these girls from the under privileged sections of the society are better prepared for IIT-JEE, CET and other competitive exams,” he mentioned.
He observed that Aasanka may not make one a genius but it will definitely take the student and place him at a very high level.
The IIT engineer asserts Aasanka is all about giving students his personal touch that had helped him send eight out of 10 students to IITS in the late 80s.
