SAL: Multiple burning issues were hotly debated at the Latambarcem gram sabha which was held on Sunday. One of the villagers alleged that houses constructed in the survey no 490/2 are built illegally without any permissions.
Responding to the query, the sarpanch stated that these houses can be called unauthorised and not illegal since as per the District Collector’s order, providing water and electricity connections was mandatory.
The panchayat is bound to issue show cause notice to the owners of the houses and similar resolution was passed during the sabha. The sarpanch also informed the members that a copy of the complaint will be sent to the Director of Panchayats. While reading out the minutes from the previous meeting, the matter of demand for a crematorium by Usap-Bhatwadi locals came up for the discussion. The current place of crematorium ran in to a controversy after the place was bought by an unknown person. The panchayat members assured that the land owner would be called for a discussion of possible solution for the problem. Panchayat members also assured the locals of arranging municipal crematorium of Bicholim municipality till then.
In the previous meeting, locals of ward 5 (Kasarpal) demanded for installation of street lights on the footbridge. The sarpanch informed that the land owner had given his consent for the same.
A resolution was also passed to congratulate panch Harshada Parwar, who contested and won from the ward reserved for ST, to work towards helping ST members to get the benefits of the schemes introduced for them.
Locals also complained of certain panch members repeatedly abstaining from attendign the gram sabha meetings.
