MARGAO: The Tourism department carried out an encroachment drive on Cavelossim beach. Several allegedly illegal deck beds, tables, and ice cream carts were confiscated by the raiding team.
The officials of the Tourism Department added that the violators shall face fines under the Goa Registration of Tourist Trade Act, informed officials.
These raids have been taking place across the State where the department is acting upon those shacks who have allegedly exceeded the permissions given to them.
There has however been a complaint from shack owners based across Salcete’s coastal belt that the tourism department is not acting upon the Lamanis and migrant vendors who harass the tourists even though the department had promised to act strictly against this.
