In a decisive move against illegal sand extraction, the Mamlatdar Office of Bardez took action last night, intercepting a covert operation at two separate locations in Siolim. Officials impounded two loaded trucks and an empty truck, all intended for the illegal transportation of extracted sand.
The orchestrated bust by authorities involved the interception of a single canoe and two trucks that were purportedly laden with illegally procured sand. Additionally, one empty truck was found waiting to be loaded with the extracted material.
Interestedly, Ugvem villagers on Monday afternoon, filed another memorandum before the Deputy Collector and other authorities complaining against the illegal sand extraction being rampant in the Terekhol River and demanded strict action.
