MARGAO: An illegal shed constructed by the Global Ispaat Limited in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate will be demolished on December 14, as per the demolition order issued by the Salcete Deputy Collector and Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), Margao.
The office of the Deputy Collector has accorded permission to demolish the entire illegal shed structure with GI pipes.
In the order, the Deputy Collector, who is also In-charge of Demolition Squad, Sub-Division, Margao, has said that he is satisfied with the request of Mamlatdar of Salcete, Margao, to grant the demolition squad. The demolition is to be carried out on Thursday, December 14 from 9.30 am onwards.
The Margao DySP has been directed to make necessary arrangements to depute one PSI, five constables and three women constables as there is likelihood of law and order problem.
The Mamlatdar of Salcete, Margao, has been directed to remain present at the site and coordinate with the agencies till the completion of the demolition.
The PWD executive engineer, works division VI (Roads South), Fatorda-Margao, or through his concerned engineer or officer of the concerned sub-division has been asked to provide demolition squad comprising 10 labourers, electric cutter crane, two trucks, two excavators, tools and equipment.
The Electricity Department’s assistant engineer, sub-division IV, division XVI, Aquem-Margao has been asked to provide the service of a lineman.
“If the demolition is not completed within a day, the demolition shall be continued on the next day, the authorities or agencies should coordinate among themselves and complete the demolition,” the order read.
The Deputy Collector and SDO of Salcete had earlier issued an order to Global Ispaat Limited, Cuncolim, directing the removal of a structure and shed in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate and restoration of the land to its original condition.
The development had followed a complaint filed by Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao and his subsequent meeting with the South Goa Collector.
Stating that the Cuncolim Industrial Estate was a curse on Cuncolkars, Alemao said that from day one he had been fighting against illegalities, encroachments and pollution in the Cuncolim Industrial Estate.
“I raised this issue in every Assembly session and due to my series of meetings with the South Goa Collector and repeated follow-ups, demolition order was issued. Illegalities and pollution will not be tolerated in Cuncolim Industrial Estate,” he warned.
