MAPUSA: The officials of Bardez Mamladtar and Mines and Geology Department on early Thursday morning conducted a raid on the alleged illegal sand extraction activity taking place at Oxel, Siolim.
Joint Mamlatdar III of Bardez Rajaram Parab along with Assistant Geologist Director of Mines and Geology Department Sudhir Mandrekar, Shyam Sawant and Mapusa Police conducted a surprise raid on illegal sand extraction activity which was going on at Oxel – Siolim and seized approximately 60 cubic metres of illegal sand.
The seized sand was than disposed of by putting it back into the river with the help of earth moving machinery.
Gaurish Naik, Talathi of Oxel Panchayat and Yogesh Vazarkar assisted the team in conducting the raid.
