PONDA: Electricity consumers are annoyed with the illegible print on the monthly electricity bills issued by the Public Works Department (PWD). They claimed that the font size is extremely small, making it difficult for them to read how much water had been consumed, the amount to be paid and the last date of payment. Kavlem resident Nayan Naik pointed out that the print on the earlier bills were bigger, and hence, readable. However, it had become a headache for her to read the bills issued in the last few months. Generation Next member Subhash Sirsat stated that they had submitted a memorandum to the Ponda Assistant Engineer to look into the matter.  He added, “Nothing can be seen on the electricity bills, and the PWD should take note of the same.”
Sirsat further claimed that consumers were forced to pay exorbitant electricity charges, which were recorded by meters installed 20 years ago. He also stated that a huge amount of water was being wasted due to broken pipes, and urged the PWD to attend to the issue promptly. He added that these issues had been brought to the notice of the Ponda PWD assistant engineer.
