PANJIM: The India Meteorological Observatory (IMD), Altinho has extended the yellow alert for the State till Monday, May 20.
The yellow alert has been extended in view of very likely possibility of thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds 30-40 kmph at isolated places across Goa till May 20, warned IMD.
In view of the strong winds and rough sea conditions, the IMD has advised stopping or regulating of beach sports activities. “Tourists should not be permitted to enter sea while rough sea conditions prevail,” the IMD stated in a press release.
On May 14, the India Meteorological Observatory had extended the yellow alert for the State till May 17, predicting that thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and winds gusting to 30-40 kmph were very likely at isolated places over North and South Goa districts. It was again extended on May 16.
