IMD extends yellow alert

PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Goa, has extended the yellow alert by a day and predicted thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and winds from November 24 to 27.

“Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and winds gusting to 30-40 kmph are very likely at isolated places over North and South Goa districts of the State on November 24, 25, 26 and 27,” the IMD, Altinho, Panjim said in a daily bulletin.

In its daily bulletin on November 22, India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and winds from November 24 to 26.

The IMD had advised the residents and authorities to stay informed about weather alerts and take appropriate precautions during the anticipated period of increased weather activity.

The ‘yellow alert’ is issued to make people aware and prepared and advise them to take the necessary precautions to ensure safety during inclement weather.
