Panjim: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for the state of Goa, forecasting heavy to very heavy rains at isolated locations on Thursday. Although most parts of Goa experienced light to moderate rainfall on Wednesday, the southwest monsoon continues to exert its presence, described as vigorous in the state.
The IMD’s alert predicts that Goa is likely to receive heavy rainfall at a few places and very heavy rainfall at isolated spots on September 28. Moreover, heavy rainfall at isolated locations is expected to persist from September 29 to 30 and into October 1. Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in most areas from September 28 to October 3.
As monsoonal rains persist, various regions across the state have witnessed continued light to moderate rainfall. Pernem recorded the highest amount of rainfall at 78.8 mm in the last 24 hours, followed closely by Mapusa with 78.5 mm. The state capital, Panaji, which has been grappling with deteriorating road conditions, received 27.5 mm of rainfall.
