PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Altinho on Friday issued an orange alert for the state till from June 7 to 11.
“Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and winds gusting to 40-50 kmph are very likely at isolated places over North Goa and South Goa districts of the State. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over North Goa and South Goa districts of the state on June 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11, 2024,” the IMD said.
Meanwhile during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 pm on Friday, Mapusa received 1.9 inches of rainfall, Pernem 2.57 inches, Ponda 0.7 inches, Panjim 0.56 inches, Old Goa 1.14 inches, Valpoi 2.32 inches, Canacona 0.99 inches, Dabolim 0.48 inches, Margao 0.33 inches, Mormugao 0.4 inches, Quepem 0.4 inches and Sanguem 1.76 inches of rainfall.
The IMD predicted that the maximum temperature in the state from June 7 to 12 will remain in the range of 31 to 29 degree celsius while minimum temperature will be in the range of 24 degree to 21 degree Celsius.
Meanwhile, the highest maximum temperature of 37.0°C was recorded at Panjim and lowest minimum temperature of 23.3°C at Dabolim during the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 pm on Friday.
