IMD ISSUES ‘RED WARNING’ FOR GOA; WARNS OF EXTREMELY HEAVY RAINFALL AT ISOLATED PLACES

IMD has issued ‘Red warning’ for Goa. Heavy rainfall are very likely at a few places with very heavy rainfall to extremely heavy rainfall likely at isolated places over North and  South Goa districts states the weather warning issued by IMD Goa Saturday afternoon. 

Possible impact of heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall during the forecasting period could be Short term water logging/flooding of roads and low lying areas,  Water entering homes in low lying areas, Fall of weak trees and weak structures, Localized and short-term disruption to municipal services (water, electricity, etc.), Inundation/ flooding in urban or city areas, Congestions on roads/rail traffic, Damage to standing crops and vegetables, Rough sea conditions along the coast, River/ canal water levels rising temporarily to danger levels,  Localized mudslides and landslides at vulnerable areas,Temporary fall in visibility during intense spells of rain etc warns IMD. In view of this general public have been asked to take requisite precautions.
