PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Goa, on Wednesday issued a yellow alert for the State from June 6 to 9.
“Heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over North and South Goa districts of the State on June 6,7,8 and 9,” the IMD said.
According to the IMD, the highest maximum temperature of 31.4° C was recorded at Panjim while the lowest minimum temperature of 26.2° C was recorded at Mormugao.
Meanwhile, very light to moderate rainfall occurred at many places over the State of Goa. Mapusa received 0.4 inches of rainfall, Ponda – 0.1 inch, Panjim – 1.93 inches, Sanquelim – 0.59 inches, Dabolim- 0.28 inches and Mormugao – 0.52 inches of rainfall recorded at 8.30 am on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
The IMD said the northern limit of monsoon continues to pass through Goa (Mormugao), Gadag, Narayanpet, Narsapur, and Islampur and conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest monsoon into remaining parts of central Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Karnataka, some parts of south Maharashtra, some more parts of Telangana and coastal Andhra Pradesh, some parts of south Chhattisgarh and South Odisha, some more parts of Westcentral and Northwest Bay of Bengal during next 3-4 days.
