IMD predicts heavy rain for next 2 days

PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Altinho on Friday predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places over North Goa and South Goa district during the next two days.

“Very heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in South and North Goa on September 9 and 10, 2023,” the IMD daily bulletin said.

In the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on Friday, Mapusa received 39 mm of rainfall, Pernem 23.8 mm, Panjim 23.6 mm, Ela (Old Goa) 54 mm, Sankhali 10.2 mm, Margao 5.9 mm, Mormugao 31.8 mm and Saguem 21.3 mm of rainfall. Canacona and Quepem did not receive rainfall at all during the period while data was not available for Ponda, Dabolim and Valpoi.

The IMD Goa had recently predicted an increase in rainfall activity over the State after September 6. According to the IMD, in spite of two prolonged breaks in rainfall activity last, the overall seasonal rainfall is likely to be normal.
