IMD predicts max temp to be in range of 34 to 36 degree Celsius in Goa during next two days

PANJIM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa, on Friday, said that the maximum daytime temperature is expected to be in the range of 34 to 36 degree Celsius over North and South Goa during the next 2 days.

In a press communique, the IMD said due to the prevailing hot and dry air from the South-East direction and the presence of a trough over north Karnataka to Vidarbha region, maximum daytime temperature is expected to be in the range of 34 to 36 degree Celsius and above normal by 2 to 4 degree Celsius,  over South and North Goa during the next two days.

There would be gradual fall thereafter in maximum temperature in subsequent days, the IMD said, adding there is no major change expected in the minimum temperature in the upcoming five days.

According to the IMD, on February 16, 2024, a maximum temperature of 35.7 degree Celsius was recorded while the minimum temperature was 22.6 degree Celsius.

The highest temperature recorded in February was 39.2 degree Celsius on February 21, 2009, 38 degree Celsius on February 29, 1984, 37.7 degree Celsius on February 20, 1999, 37. 4 degree Celsius February 9, 2001, 37.2 degree Celsius on February 23, 1999, 38.2 degree Celsius on February 16, 2023, 37.9 degree Celsius on February 13, 2023, 37.2 degree Celsius on February 14, 2023 and 36.6 degree Celsius on February 23, 2020, the IMD said.
