PANJIM: The South-West monsoons have finally withdrawn from Goa, after a delay of almost 15 days. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted thundershowers along with lightning and gusty winds for the State for next four days.
Fishermen are advised against venturing into deep sea till October 20.
Goa recorded its wettest monsoons in 2019, after 20 long years with 33 per cent surplus rains, the coastal State broke its six decade’s average normal trend, when it received155.3 inches of rains.
IMD Goa Director Dr Krrishnamurty Padgalwar informed media that the South-West monsoon has withdrawn from Goa and the entire country on October 16. The normal withdrawal of South-West monsoon from Goa starts from October 1. He said that currently a cyclonic circulation lied over East-Central Arabian Sea off South Karnataka cost at lower levels. “A trough in easterlies runs from Southwest Bay of Bengal off South Tamil Nadu coast to West-Central Bay of Bengal at lower levels,” Padgalwar said.
For last few days, several parts of the State have been receiving heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
