IMD warns of heavy rains, gusty winds till June 5

The IMD Goa observatory in charge Rahul said that there is no further advancement of monsoon over the west coast and Karnataka

PANJIM: After its onset over the Karwar region on Tuesday, the Southwest monsoon has failed to make any further advancement. However, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has warned of heavy rains accompanied by thunder and lightning and gusty winds till June 5. 

The monsoon had reached the Kerala coast on May 29. On Tuesday, it reached Karwar, the southern border of Goa. 

The IMD Goa observatory in charge Rahul said that no further advance of monsoon over the west coast and Karnataka, as of today. 

He said that the conditions are favorable for the further advance of monsoon into some parts of North Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of northeastern States, and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during the next two-three days. 

Meanwhile, several parts of the State witnessed moderate to heavy rains on Thursday accompanied by thunder and gusty winds.
