PANJIM: Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) on Thursday has written to the Chief Secretary Dharmendra Sharma IAS requesting for the immediate implementation of Supreme Court judgement on stopping the granting of promotions to employees belonging to ST/SC categories on the basis of their castes.
“We request the Chief Secretary of Goa Dharmendra Sharma IAS to take action towards implementation of stopping grant of promotions to employees belonging to ST/SC categories on the basis of their castes. We demand to take immediate steps to identify the promotion granted to the employees belonging to SC and ST categories on the basis of their castes w.e.f 19/10/2006 and review all the cases within a certain timeframe” said GGEA President John Nazareth.
He further demanded that the CS convene a meeting of all the heads of departments immediately and give instructions to stop granting promotion to the employees belonging to the SC and ST categories on their basis of caste from 26/9/2018 onwards and grant promotions purely on the basis of their seniority and other guidelines in force.
