Panjim: In the first phase of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat- Swayampurna Goa’, total 41 village panchayats will be trained to be self-reliant through the village level action plans. The year-long project will be launched from Thursday, October 1.
The State cabinet had recently accorded its approval to the plan and strategies proposed for economic revival of the villages thereby making them self-reliant. The project will be implemented across all 191 village panchayats and 14 municipalities.
The project report is prepared by the DHE and supported by GIPARD. The focus centered on making the village panchayat a self-reliant entity by empowering the village panchayat as an institution, as also a community with the aim of socio-economic upliftment of each sectoral stakeholder.
The event will be launched virtually by the Chief Minister on Thursday.
Sawant had said that government officers have been trained to go to villages and assist people to take up various self-employment jobs related to agriculture, animal husbandry, hinterland tourism, etc.
The 41 panchayats include Arambol, Dhargal, Adalpal, Tivim, Camurlim, Parra, Saligao, Siolim-Marna, Salvador-de-Mundo, Aldona, Taleigao, Chimbel, Agassaim, Carambolim, Old Goa, Chodan-Madel, Pale-Cotombi, Querim, Nagargao, Betqui-Khandola, Keri, Curti-Khandepar, Shiroda, Betora, Bandora, Chicolna-Bogmalo, Cortalim, Betalbatim, Nuvem, Curtorim, Varca, Seraulim, Navelim, Chandor-Cavorim, Dramapur, Morpirla, Khola, Dharbandora, Sanvordem, Rivona and Gaondongarium.
