Though Goa has seen several high-profile sexual abuse cases of late, the state is actually among the safer places for women in terms of rape cases.

Though Goa has seen several high-profile sexual abuse cases of late, the state is actually among the safer places for women in terms of rape cases.
In Goa, a rape case was reported at an average of 26,280 minutes (18.25 days). This may be consolation in comparison, but it will come as a shock for many Goans.
The rape capital of India is Madhya Pradesh, where every 174.6 minutes (under three hours), a woman was raped. National capital Delhi was the most unsafe metropolis, witnessing a rape in every 1,000 minutes (16 hours 40 minutes), according to the latest government data, prepared by National Crime Records Bureau.
For Mumbai, the figure was 3020.7 minutes. Kolkata was the safest among the metros, with one rape reported every 11,945.5 minutes. Chennai had a sexual assault case in every 11,426 minutes. Nagaland was the safest state, with a rape reported only in 40,430 minutes (28 days), whereas the safest places in the country were the union territories of Daman & Diu and Lakshadweep, with a rape only once in 5,25,600 minutes (1 year).
